A suspected gun runner, Emmanuel Akamabe was arrested Tuesday morning in the central motor park of Obudu local government area with two Berreta pistols.
Akamabe, 32 is said to have been arrested by the park chairman, Mr. Martin ‘Makojo’ Undie at about 06:45 AM while trying to board a vehicle to Calabar.
He stocked the pistols, 2 empty magazines and 2 live rounds inside a half filled 25kg bag of garri and while it was been loaded, the attendant was said to have drawn the attention of the park manager who after arresting Akamabe, contacted Army in Obudu who came in and took him away.
Perusing his phone, CrossRiverWatch gathered from eyewitness that the guns were sent by one Mr. Ezekiel Bala a.k.a Gun Runner from Wukari in Taraba state to be delivered to an unknown person in Calabar with phone number: 08036695154.
A quick search on Truecaller brought out the name; “Solomon Dasefiema” and the email address; “Solomondasefiema@gmail.com.”
Efforts to confirm this development from the Police spokesperson, Mrs. Irene Ugbo yielded no results.
The known number of Mrs. Ugbo, an assistant superintendent of police did not connect as at press time.
But CrossRiverWatch gathered that the suspect has been moved to Calabar on the request of the 13 Brigade Commander.
Our source said the 13 Brigade Commander took interest in the matter because the two weapons are service pistols and there are suspicions they may have been sold to the syndicate by serving army personnel or the gang may be part of those who have attacked troops and seized weapons in the past.
