The member representing Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the House Of Representatives, Hon. Legor Idagbo has challenged the people of Obudu to turn out enmass in the forth coming general elections and return governor Ayade.
Legor made the call Friday in Obudu while addressing natives of the local government area at a meeting to endorse Mr. Ayade for a second term in office.
He vowed that though, Obudu had more votes than Bekwara in the 2015 general elections, the reverse is going to be the case as the people of Bekwara, according to him, are ready to turn in their votes massively in support of the Governor.
A former Director General of the Cross River Basin Development Authority, Engineer Sixtus Abetianbe who chaired the meeting, also called on youths to desist from harassing perceived enemies of the Governor.
Mr. Abetianbe who has been silent in the state’s political landscape for a while, made the call amidst a gale of endorsements by stakeholders and different political groups, of the governor’s second term ambition.
“This is the first time I am appearing in a political rally, because of the need of the time, he (Ayade) is a man with a very big heart, he does not listen to falsehood, he has not told us that he has enemies.
“Our youths must stop to harass those we perceive to be enemies of the Governor. It is uncalled for to see our youths destabilize the peace of others,” said Abetianbe.
Mr. Ayade was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Martin Orim and in his remarks, he commended the local government for it’s unwavering support to his administration and charged them to work toward effecting the endorsement.
“The Governor is very happy for all of you, he has asked me to tell you that where ever you are, walk with your shoulders high and strong, be rest assured of our support as a government, tell our brothers that the position of Governor is not zoned to Obudu and it is about selling akara and pepper that everyone will want to go and buy,” Mr. Orim said.
The Paramount Ruler of Obudu, Uti Joseph Davis Agba also eulogized the Governor and called on the good people of Obudu to rise to the challenge of the moment and support him.
He later performed a solemn rite of blessing for Mr. Ayade.
