The Commissioner for Water Resources in Cross River State, Mr. Gabriel Odu Oji has said that his kidnappers had told him he was a wonderful man and treated him very well while in their custody.
Mr. Odu-Oji was kidnapped on April 9, 2017 along Mayne Avenue in Calabar South local government area and was released 31 days later in May 2017.
And, almost one year later, Mr. Odu-Oji on Thursday while addressing attendees at the Glance Magazine fourth year anniversary in Calabar opened up on his ordeals that he was not harmed in anyway and did not expect to spend more than one week in the hands of the kidnappers.
“It may interest you to know for those of you who do not know, I am that Commissioner that was kidnapped for one month and taken to the Niger Delta creeks.
“When I got there, I expected to spend within one week, come back and when I saw that within one week I will not come back, I said okay, I now decided to turn to God.
“And immediately I turned out to God, I came back here and I was not touched, I was not beaten, I was well treated right in the Niger Delta creeks and the guys came to me and said, we dont even know why we kidnapped you, you are such a wonderful man,” he said.
