The Paramount Ruler of Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State; His Royal Majesty Etinyin Etim Edet has described the present condition faced by the people of Bakassi as a national scandal.
The Monarch made his position known while speaking as a guest on a topical issue based radio program “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” which airs live Sundays on Hit 95.9 FM Calabar, 6-7pm.
He went on to blame State policies over the loss of Bakassi peninsula. HRM Etim added that “the rights and basic freedom of Bakassi people had over the past several years been trampled upon. The people of Bakassi have been victims of reckless political game by successive Governments. We have been Nigerian long suffering political orphans over the past several years. The condition of the people of Bakassi as at today is a National scandal.”
Concluding he said, “We have just been rescued by the Supreme Court; we have functioned as porn in the chess board of local politicians who have exploited our situations to gain prominence over the years.”
