Former Cross River Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke has been appointed to head the ‘Contact and Integration Committee’ of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The 22 man committee was inaugurated this morning at a brief ceremony at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by the national chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus.

The party had tweeted the information out on Friday afternoon.

“Contact and Integration Committee: The National Chairman of @OfficialPDPNig, @UcheSecondus has just inaugurated the above named Committee. The 22 Member Committee is chaired by the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke,” read the tweet.

Mr. Secondus after inaugurating the committee which he described as “all important and high powered,” charged them to deliver on their mandate.

The committee amongst others, is expected to develop a strategy to “galvanize” the party to form a solid “national coalition,” Mr. Secondus said.

He said it was part of the “vital reform processes that will take our party high up at this time, to the desired level.”

He continued: “Your committee and your nomination into it is therefore a well articulated decision of the party leadership to bring our open door policy to fruition.

“Just as your name connotes; contact; you are to deploy your well versed network to help open the space and allow into our party, all those whose union with us can help in rescuing this country.

“Like we always say in this party, this umbrella is big enough to accommodate all people of patriotic ideals.”

In his remarks, Mr. Imoke commended the faith the party’s hierarchy had in him and said he was humbled.
