An activist and founder of Policy Alert, a Non-Governmental Organization with interest in open governance, Mr. Tijah Bolton-Akpan has said separation of powers in Nigeria and Cross River State in particular is in theory, not practical.
Mr. Tijah made this known while speaking on “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” Sunday, on HIT 95.9 FM Calabar.
He added that “The situation has turned the two other arms of government to appendages of the Executive”.
Concluding, Mr. Bolton held that financial autonomy for the various arms is the first step towards true separation of powers.
