Bunkering Is Illegal And Criminal, Get Caught And Face The Law – Cross River Government

The Cross River State Government has reiterated its stand on stopping illegal bunkering in some parts of the State warning that bunkering in the state, “Is illegal and it is criminal to engage in bunkering of any magnitude.”

The caution was dished out by the State Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, Hon. Itaya, Asuquo Nyong, while fielding questions from this reporter.

Mr. Nyong commended the immediate past administration of Senator Liyel Imoke for fighting illegal bunkering to a reasonable standpoint” maintaining that “the current administration is also taking a queue from the past Government in order to tackle the menace that is gradually eating deep into the societal system.”

Itaya who was the Deputy Speaker of the Seventh Assembly in Cross River state, also said that machinery has been put in place to ensure that anyone caught in any form of bunkering will face the full wrath of the law.

Hon. Asuquo also affirmed that the Ayade-led administration will keep partnering with the Police and other para-military agencies to keep oil bunkering totally out of the economic sphere of Cross River State.
