Despite Not Voting, PDP’s Abbey Ukpukpen Wins Obudu Assembly Bye-Election (Full Result)

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the concluded Obudu state assembly bye-election, Mrs. Abbey Ukpukpen has emerged winner having scored 12,712 votes despite not voting.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Bendebel Ishamali polled 4,345 votes to emerge runner up while Mr. Awafung Clement of the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) came third with 132 votes with Mr. Agwupuye John of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scoring the least votes having polled 114.

The returning officer, Dr. Anthony Enya while announcing the results said 4,667 people were disenfranchised due to hijacking of materials.

Enya, who is the chairman of the University of Calabar branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, then proceeded to announce Mrs. Ukpukpen winner having met the criteria to that effect.
