Cabinet Reshuffle: Cross River Assembly To Screen Four Commissioner Nominees

Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has forwarded the names of four new commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.

This follows Mr. Ayade’s reinstatement of all appointees of his administration who resigned to contest for public office. And, the request was presented to the House on Friday through a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tina Agbor.

The nominees are; Messrs Godwin Etta, Saviour Nyong, George Abang Ekpungu and Dane Osim Asu who had served as commissioners for education, transport, new cities and works respectively.

The lawmakers in their submissions held a unanimous view that the re-absorption will be an advantage to the government as the nominees have the experience in the areas mentioned. They argued that the time was too short to bring in a new set of commissioners to serve for the remainder of the current administration’s tenure.

They commended Mr. Ayade for his decision to re-absorb the commissioners as it showed, “a spirit of reconciliation which brings peace. Commissioners play an important role in the election process.”

The matter was later handed to the House committee on judiciary to deliberate on the matter and present their reports on the next plenary session slated for Monday October 22, 2018.
