About 330, 000 Pupils Are Benefiting From National School Feeding Program In Cross River – Coordinator

“The Federal Government is working very hard for the sustainability of the National Home Grown School Feeding program.”

That’s an assertion by the National Director of the Home Grown School Feeding program, Mrs. Adesanmi Abimbola during a one day sensitization program in Calabar.

The program which took place recently in Calabar was officially declared open by the State Coordinator Mr. Gabriel Okulaja.

Mrs. Abimbola urged the management to improve on the quantity of food given to students to ensure they do not go out of the school premises looking for what to buy after eating the food offered.

She further revealed that the feeding program was among the many other initiatives the Federal Government had in stock which would include a wider variety of people.

According to her,  “The Federal Government has 4 flagship programs of the National Social Investment Office; N-Power, the arm that provides employment and allows youths to have their own creativity and entrepreneurship culture device; Market Money, the Chief Government Enterprise Empowerment program which have market, traders, and farmers money; National Cash Transfer Program which is cash transfer of 5, 000 to the elderly, the vulnerable, the poor in our communities every month, and finally the national home grown school feeding program.”

She maintained that each of these programs is targeted at different feeders of the community; the children, the market women, youth and the elderly people to ensure their livelihood is being uplifted to the standard of the average Nigerian.

Earlier on, the State Coordinator of the program, Mr. Gabriel Okulaja who expressed his satisfaction over the program as he revealed that about 330, 000 school children is benefiting from the program in the State.

He assured Cross Riverians that he’ll leave no stone unturned to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.

Also speaking during the program, His Royal Majesty, the Muri Munene of the Efut Nation and the embattled Paramount Ruler of Calabar South, Prof. Itam Hogan who applauded the initiative of the program and urged for its sustainability.
