Ayade FC has defeated Begiaka FC, 4-3 on penalties to win the 5th edition of the Comrade Odey Adamade Unity Cup Competition, clinching the top prize of a hundred thousand naira (N 100,000) and a trophy.
The competition which commenced on the 9th of December, 2018 with 16 teams held at two venues; Obudu Township Stadium and Betukwel Primary School with 8 teams in each of the venues.
At the semi-finals which held at Venue 1, Team Honor Ayade FC defeated Bishiri Road FC, while Academy FC defeated Ukwel FC.
At the second venue, Junior Ajax FC took on Academy FC and Begiaka qualified for the finals by beating Betukwel who made it to the 3rd placed match but lost to Academy FC.
The competition was coordinated and Assisted by David ‘Mayor’ Undeshi, Hon. Victor Afebende, Raymond Akinke and prizes were presented by Mr. Opla Ayade, DSP Lifu Eyo, who is the Divisonal Police Officer DPO in charge of Obudu amongst others.
Prizes presented include Best Referee who got N5,000, Highest Goal Scorer N5,000, Oldest Player in the Tournament N5,000, Fourth Placed Team N30,000, Third Placed Team N50,000, Second Placed Team N80,000 and the Winner who got N100,000.
