The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections in Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade clinched over 95 percent of votes cast in his polling units to floor his counterparts.
Mr. Ayade who is the incumbent polled 1,724 votes while the NCP polled three votes. ADP and DPP polled one vote each while APC polled two votes with a total of seven invalid votes registered from 1,731 votes cast.
Recall that Mr. Ayade had arrived the polling unit CR 14/04/004 (Kakum Town Hall) at 10:54AM with his wife, Linda to vote and after the smart card reader had failed to read his right and left thumbs, he was accredited after the machine read his right index finger in what seemed to remind him of his challenges during the February 23, 2019 presidential and National Assembly polls.
However, Mr. Ayade and his wife later proceeded to vote at 10:59AM and 11:00AM respectively.
Voting continued in the polling unit which has six voting points till about 4:00PM with a huge turnout recorded during the latter hours of the elections.
