JUST IN: George Ekpungu, Family Escape Assassination Attempt (PICTURES)

Information reaching our newsroom has it that Dr. George Ekpungu, wife, children escaped death in his country home in Kakwagom community in Boki LGA, Cross River State.

According to George Odok, Cross River State Correspondent of NAN (News Agency of Nigeria) “Thugs invaded his house at night and shot sporadically in almost all the rooms in his house. His car and other valuables were equally destroyed.

“He is always a peace mediator. The security agencies must step into this matter and apprehend the culprits.” He posted on his facebook wall.

A call was placed from our newsroom to the former Commissioner for New Cities Development who simply replied in a soft tone “Please I’ll call you back”.

As at the time of filing this report, all efforts made to get security agencies for comment was not fruitful.

We are also yet to confirm if anyone was hurt.
