Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs is not aware of any suspension by the National Working Committee (NWC), he hasn’t been contacted by any organ of the party regarding the decision of the NWC.

That’s an assertion by Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, the Director General of the Usani Governorship Campaign Council, made in Calabar (Sunday) when fielding questions from journalists.

His words, “The Constitution of our party is clear on cases of suspension of any member; it clearly states circumstances and outlines procedures to be taken to warrant and effect a suspension and in this case, if any suspension exists, Usani’s attention should be drawn to it but if it is not in conformity with the party’s extant laws, then the suspension invariably does not exist”.

He said the suspension ought to come from the ward and not NWC whose only role is to ratify the decision of the party at the ward level not initiate and ratify it themselves.

Cobham argued that Usani has shown total loyalty to the party which made him won his polling unit and ward in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections and nothing would deter him from pursuing his principle an rights through the rule of law.

“Usani has shown sufficient loyalty to the party by helping it poll 722 votes against PDP 2 in his polling unit and 4000 votes against PDP 1,000 votes in his Abanankpai council ward in just concluded Presidential elections, Usani is the only APC leader in the State to produce a Federal Constituency Representative in last Saturday’s election.”

Pastor Cobham said the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole is used to acting arbitrarily and was called to order by the President and his recent action is nothing but a descent into high handedness.

In a related development, he described media report that the Appeal Court sitting in Calabar on Wednesday ordered a stay off execution which made Sen. John Owan Enoh candidate of APC as misleading, misnormal and misinterpretation of fact on the issue.

According to him, “The subsisting order of the Court remains the fact that Usani remains the APC candidate in Cross River State by way of that judgement, at no point in time did the story of execution made he Owan the candidate”.

Ekpenyong recalled that INEC has already implemented the judgment of the Federal High Court by recognising Godwin Etim as the authentic Chairman of APC in Cross River State.
