The Cross River State Chairman of Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Joseph Ukpo has called on Christian faithfuls to celebrate the Easter period with joy and reflection.
Bishop Ukpo made this known on Thursday in an interview were he intimated Christians to remain steadfast in the faith.
He said, “Jesus was born in a stable at Bethlehem that was the beginning but the climax and the end of it is what we call Easter. He died, was buried and rose from death and went back to His father having completed His work of redemption.
“So all of us Christians throughout the whole world, should regard Easter to be the most joyful part. He has kept the promise He had with His father that He will come and suffer for us.”
He went on saying, “It’s a thing to rejoice if somebody now tells you the gate is open because Christ has fulfilled this one on the cross, He said it is finish and what is finished? The whole work that He came to perform which is to save mankind, it is now finished.”
The CAN Chairman Cross River State concluded saying, “So we regard Easter as a joyful occasion even though it is the death of Christ but it is not the death that we celebrate it is the burial and His resurrection by His own power, otherwise he will be like a magician.”
