The Cross River State Government has announced Saturday, July 27, 2019 as environmental sanitation day.
His was contained in a statement issued by the immediate past commissioner for tourism in the State, Mr. Eric Anderson who currently heads a group of people tasked to take care of cleanliness and refuse evacuation issues.
The sanitation exercise is scheduled to start by 7:00 AM and end by 10:00AM.
The statement which charged residents to “cooperate,” also read in part: “As a result of this development, there shall be no vehicular movement to help ensure total and effective participation, exceptions are for only those who are on your official assignments and special duties.”
Mr. Anderson told CrossRiverWatch on phone that it is a one off exercise to clear refuse from calabar and will not repeated.
Recently, the State has come under criticism for its slow pace in refuse evacuation with piles of refuse reappearing on roadsides in the Calabar metropolis.
