The disclosure was made by the Speaker Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams when he hosted the alumni of the institution in his office on Monday.

The bill, according to the Speaker is sponsored by the House Leader, Hon. Peter Odey (Ogoja constituency) seeks to change the name of the institution from a Technology University to a conventional University where courses like Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and others can be introduced.

The bill also seek to improve the existing structure, remove the clauses that hinders the institution from offering some courses, provision of infrastructure, job opportunities, man power development as well as promotion of teaching and research.

He also condemned the encroachment of CRUTECH lands in all the campuses adding that “people are now building inside the school environment. A bill to put an end to that will be passed and we’ll ensure it is effective.”
