Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade who had last week sneaked out of the State has been spotted in Italy eating chocolate.
A video shared by his aides shows Mr. Ayade eating white chocolate in what looks like a factory for producing and packaging chocolate.
Mr. Ayade can be heard telling the person filming that the chocolate is “very very sweet” after eating a piece handed him by his tour guide.
A short statement shared by Government House Calabar officials read: “Governor Ayade in Italy for the last mile packaging machinery for the Ikom chocolate factory.”
The factory is said to be a multi-billion project which seeks to improve the Cocoa value chain in the State and country.
However, details about the scope, cost and ownership of the project remain murky as no clear statement has been made on that.
There is no provision for the factory in the 2019 budget excluding a budget head which said old and new government industries will be maintained with N1.5 billion.
Meanwhile, it is unclear when Mr. Ayade will return to the State as his trips remain a mystery to the populace with little or no communication about what he is traveling for, where he is traveling to, whom he is traveling with and when he will return.
