An unidentified final year student in the faculty of Engineering, Cross River University of Technology, Calabar Campus, was gunned down on the University’s by a rival group.
The incident which took place at about 3:09pm, Thursday 3rd October, 2019, in front of the Students Union Government Secretariat, inside the varsity premises with an eyewitness who said the student was shot dead just as the Neo Black Movement (MBN) was having a parade in the school vicinity in preparation for the cultural day; an event in the Students week.
The dead and echoing of gun shots saw the planned cultural festival scattered with some students around the scary scene lying flat to avoid stray bullets.
The cause of his demise cannot be told but an investigation by CrossRiverWatch revealed that it is gang rivalry between members of Klans confraternity and NBM also known as Black Axe.
At the time of filing this report, the deceased body was still lying as many scout for safety there by bringing the cultural day festival to a halt.
