The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade has yielded and makes u-turn as he will swear in Justice Akon Ikpeme as acting Chief Judge of the State High Court.
The Governor and the State judiciary had clashed over who succeeds Justice Mike Edem (rtd).
Justice Akon according to judicial stakeholders is by law qualified to take Edem’s seat but Ayade was bent on ensuring Justice Eneji who is a junior to Akon.
The Chief Press Secretary to Ayade, Christian Ita released a statement where the Governor yielded.

Cross River State Governor, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade will tomorrow, Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019, swear in Justice Akon Ikpeme as the acting Chief Judge of the State.
Venue: State Executive Council Chambers, Governor’s Office, Calabar.
