CRUTECH: Police Arrest Students Protesting Against Suspension Of Union Activities

Students of Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) Calabar campus, on Monday, 3rd February, 2020 staged a peaceful protest against the school management’s suspension of Students Union Government (SUG) and other union activities in the institution.

The protest which was spearheaded by students leaders, moved from one department and lecture hall to another, chased fellow students and lecturers having lectures out of the classes to express their grievances against the management decision.

The protesters with placards bearing different inscriptions such as “Management leave students activities, face management activities”, “No student Union, No school”, ” We need a safe CRUTECH” amongst others.

The protest however, took another phase when men of State Anti- Cultism and Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Policemen threatened to shot at students which warranted some students throwing stones from aloof.

The security personnels who came in their numbers, broke the padlock which the students use to lock the school gate, grabbed some students and went away in their vans.
