Stephen Odey, one of the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the December 5, 2020 senatorial by-elections in northern Cross River has been presented with a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The certificate was signed by the acting Chairman of the commission, AVM Ahmad Tijjani Mu’Azu (rtd).
Images obtained by CrossRiverWatch shows that Mr. Odey, who served as the Chairman of the State’s Universal Basic Education Board, was accompanied to the office by the Director General of the Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, Alphonsus Eba Ogar.
When contacted at 5:40PM, he told this reporter that: “I haven’t gone out yet, I am still in the office,” and dropped the call.
Mr. Odey was declared winner of the polls on Saturday, despite conflicting judgments from the Abuja and Calabar divisions of the Federal High Court which declared two different persons as candidates.
CrossRiverWatch had reported that the other candidate, Rep. Jarigbe Agom has since rejected the announcement of Mr. Odey as winner.
