Jos Crisis: Cross River To Evacuate Students

As ethnic, religious and political crisis continues in Jos, Plateau State where lives and properties have been lost for the past few days, the Government of Cross River State is set to evacuate its indigenes from the State.

The State Government is following other State Government who are conveying citizens back home following the unrest and killing of students in the University of Jos and its environs.

This was disclosed in an announcement by the Director General, Migration Control Agency, Michael Nku Abuo, announcing that provisions are in place to evacuate Cross River students in the varsity.

The announcement reads: “In response to the current security situation in Jos, Plateau State, the Government of Cross River State has made security and logistic provisions for the evacuation of Cross River State students and indigenes in Jos back to Cross River State. For enquiries and assistance, Lekan Macaulay is to be contacted on 08103062058.”

Plateau State, which has over 30 ethnic groups and 11 indigenous languages has over times witnessed ethnic, religious and political crisis which has resulted to loss of lives and properties.
