‘PDP Not In Our Blood’ – Steven Odey, Says They Will See ‘Pepper’ In 2023

By Patrick Obia And Sylvia Felix

The immediate past Chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Steven Odey last weekend described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a den of robbers who ganged up and robbed him of his position as Senator.

The Appeal Court in July upheld the decision of the High Court of the FCT declaring Jarigbe Agom as the duly nominated candidate of the PDP and winner of the December 5, 2020 senatorial by/election in northern Cross River State thereby ending Odey’s seven months stint at the National Assembly.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of Senator Rose Oko.

And, Odey who asserted that his mandated was stolen at an event to mark his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Yala Local Government Area, ending speculations about where his loyalty lay after the Governor, whom he described as his “boss,” and “principal” on several occasions was railroaded into the APC.

He had told CrossRiverWatch shortly after that he only attended Mr. Ayade’s defection ceremony and did not defect.

He said the PDP will have it hot in the next general elections and insisted that his political career was not dead.

“I was the one talking PDP here but now I am gone from the party and as such the party is completely dead. The claim that PDP is in our blood is false. In whose blood are they talking about? The party whom you voted for me as Senator and those robbers ganged up and took it. Come 2023, we will show them pepper.

“My style is to work for my people, and if anyone thinks that by not being in the Senate I am finished, such persons should watch and see how I am going to work for my people,” he said.
