Several Cross Riverians on Tuesday joined millions across the globe to celebrate Id-El Maulud with the Muslim Ummah.
Cross River Governor, Benedict Ayade; former lawmaker, John Owan-Enoh and federal lawmaker, Legor Idagbo urged the Muslim Ummah to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
In a statement by his spokesman, Christian Ita, Mr. Ayade averred that the selfless services rendered by Prophet Muhammed who served as a unifying leader to all Muslims should be a lesson to Humanity.
The Governor, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the celebration of the holy Prophet’s birthday, explained that the virtues of service and exemplary leadership as demonstrated by the Prophet Muhammed should be imbibed by all mankind.
He Commended the Muslim community in Cross River State for their continued support, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and support for his government, even as he urged them to use the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s birth to reflect on the essential lessons of his life.
He also urged them to pray for the continued well being of Cross River state and the nation in general.
For Senator Owan-Enoh, “the teachings of purity, selflessness, humility,love and tolerance as espoused in the holy Quran and by the teachings of Prophet Mohammed are what our country requires now more than at anytime in our history.”
The former lawmaker who took to Facebook to felicitate with the Muslim Ummah, also urged all to, “use this occasion to reflect on the strengths of our union and to make a fresh commitment to reject those tendencies that divide and promote disunity among us.
“We are strong only when we come together to uphold our shared values in obedience to the true essence of why we are a country of diverse people united by one destiny.”
Furthermore, Mr. Idagbo who represents the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in a message signed by him said as Muslim faithfuls all over the world commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is important for them to reflect on his life and emulate his good virtues.
