Dr. Idem Etuk Samuel, the owner of Mount Zion Medical Center who was accused of sexually harassing a female minor, was on Thursday, taken to the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital in Calabar after he was arrested.
Dr. Etuk was arrested on Thursday by the Cross River State command of the Nigerian Police Force a following a petition by the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, that he sexually harassed one of his patients, a 15-year-old (name withheld).
Upon arriving to the police command at Diamond Hill, police sources say Dr. Samuel began exhibiting psychiatric symptoms.
The police officers quizzing him are said to have insisted he was feigning madness, but, his lawyers who were present insisted that he should be taken to a psychiatric hospital which the police obliged, and he was granted administrative bail.
As at press time, it remained unclear whether he is still on admission or was discharged.
