Ketabebe FC, Ijom FC and Nkpolo-Ukpawen FC emerged first, second and third respectively at the just concluded Yakurr Unity Cup Competition, 2021.
Idomi FC went home as the best behaved team, Bassey Eko was the highest goal scorer, Lucky Patrick best player, Wofai Ebri won best defender and Otu Ikpi was the best goalkeeper.
The yearly competition which started in 2000 as Ugep Unity Cup and metamorphosed to Yakurr Unity Cup Competition in 2021 is organized by High Chief Nelson Ofem Leadership, Sports and Educational Foundation.
In the just completed competition 16 teams participated and they are Biko Biko FC, Ijiman FC, Ikpatapit FC, Ketabebe FC, Agoi Ekpo FC, Mkpani FC and Ajere FC.
Others are Ijom FC, Ntan FC, Nkpolo-Ukpawen FC, Idomi FC, Assiga FC, Inyima FC, Agoi Ibami FC, Abanamkpai FC and Ekpenti-Aferekpe FC.
The host, High Chief Nelson Ofem (Ledu-Opeli) said he is happy with the level of participation and pledged to continue hosting the competition as an avenue to ensure peaceful coexistence in Yakurr LGA.
He thanked the Local Organizing Committee headed by Mr. Eyong Uket for their voluntary service and those who supported the competition.
