Calabar South: After 5 Years Community Get New Transformer As NLC Women Honor Council Chairman

Calabar South Local Government Council has donated and commissioned a 500 KVA transformer at Beecroft by MacDonald street.

The community, according to residents, has stayed five years without a public power supply. The LG Chairman of Calabar South, Mrs. Esther Bassey while commissioning the transformer urged the residents to protect it from harm.

She maintained that the lighting up of the affected area was born from the desire to combat security and other vices.

Mrs. Esther reiterated that her office remains open to her people not just when they are in need but to support the course of her administration.

Also, her colleague from Bakassi LG, Mr. Iyadim Amboni commended her stride and urged the community to safeguard the transformer.

According to him with light security will improve and business will thrive but if destroyed by way of stealing its parts it’s the community that still suffers.

Mr. Asuquo Asibong and Mr. Etim Okon who are leaders in the community thanked their Council Chairman for taking them out of the darkness as they pledged to ensure the transformer is secured.

The transformer commissioning event was held yesterday, the 2022 International Women’s Day celebration.

Relatively, the Women Committee of the Nigerian Labor Congress, Cross River State chapter has honored the Calabar South Chairman.

She was honored for her contribution to empowering women.
