The candidate of the All Progressives Congress and winner of the February 26, 2022, legislative by-election into the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency by-elections, Jude Ngaji has resumed as a member of the Federal House of Representatives after being sworn-in earlier today.
Mr. Ngaji was administered the oath of office by the clerk of the House, Chinedu Akabueze on Wednesday morning before the commencement of plenary, with the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase (APC, Plateau) welcoming him to the chambers.
Ngaji, decked in a gray suit, white shirt, a multi-shade gray plaid tie and what looked like anti-blue light glasses, takes over from Jarigbe Agom who moved to the upper chambers in September last year.
Images show that he was directed to his seat, where he shook hands with colleagues in what symbolizes the start of his first legislative duty.
Mr. Ngaji, received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier this week. He polled 22,778 votes in the elections marred with low voter turnout and pockets of violence to beat his closest rival, Mike Usibe of the People’s Democratic Party.
It was presented to him by the national commissioner who supervised the by-elections in Cross River State, Barr. Festus Okoye.
