Two lovers (unnamed), on Monday, narrowly survived an auto crash in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, after their vehicle skid off the road and hit a shop nearby.
The accident happened in the early hours of Monday at the Rabana roundabout. And, one of the lovers said the accident occurred as a result of high speed and brake failure.
The male, who was driving, told this reporter that the vehicle swerved into a private business premises where clothes are sold at Rabana roundabout after he lost control of what looked like a 2005 blue Toyota Corolla.
The scene is opposite the entrance of the Akim mammy market of the headquarters, 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
He said both of them were not wearing seatbelts, adding that he sustained injuries while his girlfriend is lying unconscious in an undisclosed hospital.
As at press time, the vehicle had been towed from the accident scene while the owner of the shop sought an evaluation of the damage.
