Chairman of APC in Cross River State, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba has inaugurated the ad hoc committee to prune the number of governorship aspirants from 16 to 4.
The Committee is expected to recommend four aspirants, two from the Central and two from the South.
The Chairman informed the Committee that after the submission of its report, any aspirants who are not satisfied with the outcome can then go ahead to buy the form.
He disclosed that the idea was to reduce the number to a manageable size.
Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba, who accepted the offer to serve, said they will interface and persuade some aspirants to see the need to trim the number.
“We have no constitutional powers to disqualify anybody; our assignment is to persuade some aspirants to see the need to allow us to trim the number to what we can manage as we prepare for the polls,” he said.
The Committee is expected to submit its report by 12noon on May 6, 2022.
