The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade has commiserated with the people of Ondo State over the recent massacre of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo town by unknown gunmen.

Over 38 worshippers were killed while attending Sunday morning mass at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo town in Ondo State, on Sunday 5 June 2022.

Gov. Ayade took to his official Facebook page to condemn the act, calling on security agents to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

His words: “I am outraged by the mindless and barbaric murder in a church of God where several worshippers were killed. I join all well-meaning Nigerians to condemn this unprovoked attack on the worship center.

“This should not have happened. It is indeed, saddening that gradually, our society is losing its humanity and something must be done to arrest the drift into barbarism.

“The loss of value for human lives and the audacity with which the attack was carried out is rather confounding. It is a tragedy that must be condemned by people of good conscience.

“I join well-meaning Nigerians to express my profound condolences and offer my prayer for those who lost relatives and friends in the heinous killings,” he said.
