The former Daily Sun correspondent in Abia State, Mr. Chucks Onuoha, who was kidnapped on Tuesday has reportedly been released.
However, it is not clear whether a ransom was paid for his release as his abductors had demanded a ransom of N10 million.
His wife, Mrs. Onuoha, who confirmed the release of her husband, said he regained freedom early Saturday morning in Imo State.
According to her, “upon his release, he found his way to where he pleaded with people there to help him reach a place we went to pick him up.”
She expressed appreciation to God and Nigerians who stood with the family throughout the ordeal.
Meanwhile, a statement by his clan, the Ohuhu Welfare Union thanked all Ohuhu people “for their prayers for this family and numerous others including friends and relations who stood with the family in this trying moment.”
The statement, signed by the President-General of Ohuhu Welfare Union, Sir Obi Aguocha, urged the Ohuhu people to continue to pray for the peace of her motherland Ohuhu, Abia State, and Nigeria in general.
He advised people to be conscious of their security.
