The Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals, AFYMP, has trained selected campus journalists in Port Harcourt, the River State capital.

The media-focused NGO in the course of the session charged them to be innovative and creative as they are the game changers the industry currently needs.

The Convener and the Executive Director of AFYMP, Yinka Olaito said there is a lot the industry lacks that the group of young journalists coming up can do, encouraging them to make themselves open to learning and relearning.

He said, “We are interested in game-changers for the betterment of the future as the youths can be the change we are looking for.”

The participants were advised to install a new mindset otherwise they will remain stagnant, as the media is an evolving industry. They were also urged to learn to appreciate and embrace change.

Journalists like Dele Olojede, Chris Ferguson, and Dr. Suraj facilitated sessions of the training.

The event which was held at Leadwort Hotel in Port Harcourt had in attendance 13 campus journalists from various States.

The universities include UNICROSS, UNICAL, UNN, UNIUYO, UNIPORT, UNIZIK, UDU BAYELSA, UNIMAID, UNIBEN, and FUTO.
