Men of the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria’s secret police, the SSS, are currently on a manhunt for the abductors of a student of the Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, sources say.
Two students, unnamed, were abducted on Tuesday night while they were on their way from the canteen to the hostel. One of them escaped after sustaining a knife cut by the assailants and is currently receiving medical attention.
And, upon receiving the information, the management reached out to the Police and the SSS, who mobilized immediately for a manhunt of the perpetrators.
Also, contrary to reports of gunmen invading the institution and firing sporadically, the source disclosed that assailants never shot and seemed to have operated in a group of about four.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the water pipe for the cooling system of the school’s generator was destroyed, which led to the power source tripping off shortly before the abduction took place.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that the 100 and 200 Level students had completed their examination and departed the hostels. Those left were 300 and final year students who were billed to complete their examinations on Friday.
