Listen To The Report

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has extended its five months warning strike by four weeks.

President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke made this known in a statement on Monday, saying the decision was to give enough room to the government to yield to the Union’s demands.

Prof. Emmanuel said an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council of ASUU was held at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja, Abuja, over the weekend where the Union agreed to extend the industrial action to one month with immediate effect.

Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022, begun a “total and comprehensive” warning strike over the federal government’s failure to honor its Memorandum of Action.
