The Flamingos of Nigeria have qualified for the semi-finals in the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
The Flamingos defeated the tram USA 4:3 on penalty shootouts after the 90 minutes play ended in a draw, 1:1.
Omamuzo Edafe gave the Nigerian side the lead in the 27th minute through the spot kick after a long check from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). However, the US women’s side, ticked favorite, responded in the 40th minute courtesy of Amalia Villarreal’s finish.
Cross River-born trio – Miracle Usani, Edidiong Etim, and Edet Offiong were all penalty scorers that sent the Nigerian women’s U-17 team to their first-ever world cup semi-finals.
