With just 35 days away from the commencement of the first lap of the 2023 general elections and the clamor for all and sundry eligible voters to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), the Cross River State Government has declared two work-free days to enable civil servants in the State to collect their cards.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the newly appointed Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Eric Anderson stating that Governor Ayade has approved Thursday, 26th, and Friday, 27th January 2023 as work-free days.

Mr. Ayade noted that the gesture is to enable civil servants in the State to collect their cards and vote during the much-talked-about elections.

He emphasized that the work-free days are not public holidays and should not be seen as one.

The statement reads: “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prof Ben Ayade, CON, KSJI, has approved Thursday, 26th, and Friday, 27th January 2023 as work-free days in the State to enable Civil and Public Servants across Cross River State collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCS) in readiness for their full participation in the 2023 general elections scheduled for Saturday, 25th February 2023 for Presidential and National Assembly Elections as well as Saturday, 11th March 2023 for Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections.

“Government wishes to make it abundantly clear, especially for the benefit of members of the general public to note that these work-free days are not public holidays and should not be seen as one.

“Civil and Public Servants in the State are hereby advised to take advantage of these work-free days to get their PVCs in readiness to make their votes count in these elections. Your PVC is the pathway to achieving credible elections, get yours now. Thank you.”
