A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital has remanded in prison, a 49-year old man accused of murdering a tenant of his, and dumping her body into a septic tank.

Eyo Bassey Etim, who was arrested in  Akpabuyo in December, confessed  to the alleged murder of Miss Harmony Edem-Anwan, a staff of Lafarge.

Eyo is charged with the kidnap and murder of the victim in case number, FHC/CA/2C/2023, and the matter is presided over by Justice Rosemary Dugbo Oghoghorie.

The accused is said to have borrowed about 1.2 million Naira from the victim, and when it was time to pay back, he lied that he had given the victim a property to sell for 9 million Naira and that she had refused to remit the funds.

According to SP Ogini Chukwuma who led the team from the Anti-kidnapping squad to apprehend the suspect, Eyo had “contacted some persons to abduct her in a bid to recover the money, but subsequently killed and dumped inside a septic tank.”
