Following the death of a 400-level student of Computer Science, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) by suspected operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday 9 February 2023, management of the institution has appealed for “sustain calm and peace on campus.”
The varsity made the appeal in circular number 380 and signed by the management through the office of the Registrar, saying management appreciates the maturity and understanding displayed by staff and students in the face of the incident that took place in the Calabar campus.
The school “therefore appeals that everyone in the university should sustain the calm and continue with their normal activities while Management does everything to ensure that the issue is resolved in the interest of the university and guarantee a good teaching and learning environment.
Meanwhile, the Cross River State Government has owned up to the killing of the undergraduate saying he was not an “innocent student”, his real name is Austin Norwich Kingsley, and is “a notorious cultist, armed robber, and kidnapper who has been on the wanted list of security agents for a long time.”
