The Cross River State Government has commissioned a newly built health center in Assiga Community, Yakurr Local Government of the State.

In ensuring that no community is left out of the giant stride of Governor Ben Ayade-led administration, the government through the Director-General of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mrs. Abasioffiong Offiong commissioned the facility to serve the community, especially during emergency purposes.

Speaking on behalf of the state governor, Mrs. Abasioffiong thanked Governor Ben Ayade and his dear wife – Dr. Linda for their outstanding achievements in the health sector and for giving Cross Riverians the easiest and closest source of health care services.

“As a State, we are blessed to have Sen. Ben Ayade as a governor. His administration has remained one of those that have paid maximum attention to the health sector, today all the 196 Wards in Cross River State have at least one healthcare facility that is up and running. Dr. Linda Ayade the wife of our amiable governor and our ebullient first lady cannot be left out, especially with all her support not only to the health sector but through her immense contributions to its growth using her mediatrix foundation.

“Today the good people of Assiga can boast of a new primary health care facility courtesy of Governor Ben Ayade’s administration, amongst many other achievements should be the many basis/reasons why we all have to queue behind Sen. Prince Otu during the forthcoming elections for continuity and sustainability of the legacies and achievements of Governor Ayade. As a fellow woman and a strong party member, I’ll also call on you all to support Rev. Mrs. Mercy Akpama for the house of Assembly position.

“His Excellency has instructed me to inform you that this PHC will be well-equipped and that many more infrastructures and government projects will be brought to the good people of Yakurr. We saw your strength during the presidential, senate, and house of representative elections, and as a party, we’re rest assured that you’ll reciprocate the same political strength come March 18th.”

The DG expressed joy and gratitude to the people of Assiga for the lofty gesture lauded to her and her team,  encouraging traditional leaders, women, youth groups, and the entire community to access the health facility whenever the need arises as health interventions will be readily available for their consumption as well as free medical outreach scheduled for Thursday the 16 March 2023 to encourage full utilization of the facility.

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani has said the health center was built and commissioned by him during his term as a Minister.

Usani disclosed this in a Facebook post noting that the project was awarded in the year 2017/2018 to the contractor ‘NAMZY VENTURES’ and after completion, it was commissioned in 2019 by him in the presence of all traditional rulers in the Assiga Community.

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) guber candidate said, “politicizing the project and encouraging electorates to vote a certain candidate of their political party is the height of insensitivity and rude disrespect to the public and their right to knowledge.”
