BREAKING: Governor Otu Suspends Curfew Imposed In Akpabuyo, Bakassi LGAs After 22 Days

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has suspended the curfew imposed after 22 days in Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas of the State.

Governor Otu had on July 3rd, 2023 imposed a 7:PM to 6:AM curfew in the two LGAs due to insecurity.

In a press release issued on Tuesday 25 July 2023 by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor – Mr. Edem Darlington, he said it is pertinent to suspend the curfew having reviewed the security situation in the LGAs.

He enjoins citizens and commuters who reside in both local government areas to go about their normal duties without fear.

The release reads: “The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has approved the suspension of the curfew imposed on Akpabuyo and Bakassi local government areas of the State.

“The decision was reached after a thorough review of the situation by key security stakeholders in the State.

“Citizens who reside in both local government areas are advised to go about their normal duties without fear.

“The Governor reiterates his commitment to protecting the lives and properties of all residents in the State.”
