A former Councillor in the Obanliku Local Government Council legislature representing the Busi council ward, Hon. Rufus Enyi has died.

Mr. Enyi was hospitalized after being diagnosed with Colorectal cancer.

According to the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is a disease in which cells in the colon or rectum grow out of control.

He had reached out to CrossRiverWatch after undergoing the first stage of treatment to help raise NGN6 million for his bills.

“The first stage of the surgery has been completed. We are waiting to hear from the Doctors when the second will be. It has been very difficult for me as I have been stooling consistently with blood and it has drained me,” a visibly weak man managed to say when CrossRiverWatch visited.

“I still have some steps ahead to get me properly treated. That is why I am seeking the help of well-spirited individuals to come to my aid because the bill I have been given is more than what I can afford,” Enyi had added with labored breath.

While waiting for his account details for those willing to donate, news of his passing reached our newsroom.

Married with two Children, Mr. Enyi was also bothered by accommodation challenges as he has been squatting at the House of Assembly quarters that are currently undergoing renovation.
