A few hours before announcing his cabinet, the Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has transmitted to the State House of Assembly lists of proposed commissioners for consideration.

Governor Otu’s gesture is in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), requiring the President and Governors to submit the names of persons nominated as Ministers and Commissioners to the Senate and State House of Assembly.

Otu disclosed this on his social media handle.

It reads: “Dear Cross Riverians, I am excited to announce that I have successfully transmitted to the Cross River State House of Assembly for confirmation, a list of commissioner nominees who will assist me serve all of you in the State Executive Council.

“This is in accordance with the provisions of our constitution. I am hopeful that the lawmakers will do the needful to help us move swiftly.”
