Moment Senate Confirmed Owan-Enoh, Betta Edu As Ministers

The Nigerian Senate this evening confirmed the appointments of the two ministerial nominees from Cross River State, Sen. John Owan-Enoh and Dr. Betta Edu.

The duo were among the 28 nominated by President Bola Tinubu on July 27, 2023.

Following their nominations, both were screened by the Senate on different days.

While Dr. Edu, 36, who is the youngest ministerial nominee was screened on July 31st, Sen. Owan-Enoh, 57, was screened on August 1 with both asked to take a bow and go whilst receiving support from lawmakers in different political parties.

During Monday’s plenary, the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio called out each ministerial nominee’s name individually for a voice vote.

Sen. Owan-Enoh’s name was called first. He was confirmed at 6:46PM. After others, Dr. Edu was also confirmed at 6:52PM.
