Some residents of Calabar, the Cross River State capital have accused the Police of unlawful arrest and detention of Mr. Kandy Umoh.
Mr. Tom Alims, who took to his social media handle to protest his continued detention revealed that “Kandy Umoh was only carrying a roll-up banner stand, which was given to him by Jamie after their meeting yesterday (Sunday) evening.
“Now, they have seen that it’s not AK 47 since last night, but they don’t want to release him. Nigeria Police Force men can do better. We go nowhere until Kandy is released.”
Mr. Kandy is a Calabar-based digital creator, stage-screen recorder, and entrepreneur. He is being held at the Airport Police Division.
When CrossRiverWatch reached the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Irene Ugbo at 12:15 pm, said the Police were still conducting investigations on the matter.
“They arrested him, other people were arrested and they need to investigate; they are on it. If he has done anything unlawful, they will charge him because nobody is above the law. Am waiting for their further investigation,” the PPRO said.
