Cross River-born businesswoman, Martina Ofem, popularly known as “the international bole girl,” on Boxing Day, was announced the winner of a Toyota Rav 4 Sports Utility Vehicle by beverage brand, The Nines.
Congratulatory messages flooded her social media timelines after she posted a video of her celebrating following the announcement on social media by The Nines, an alcoholic beverage produced by Tiger Breweries.
“Kudos to the outstanding champions of our #ChristmasWithTheNines Challenge! Selecting the winners was quite a challenge due to the abundance of creative entries. A big thank you to all who took part — your passion truly fueled the success of this challenge! The winners stood out for their creativity and engagement,” the coy wrote.
At 11:00 PM, Miss Ofem shared a video showing that her phone had not stopped buzzing. But, how did she get here?
118 Words, 60 Seconds
On November 17, 2023, Miss Ofem shared a short poem of 118 words in line with the challenge. The poem was accompanied by a 60-second video of her hanging out with her friends Blessing and Tiwa.
She told CrossRiverWatch that after seeing the ad on social media, it took her a day to prepare the script, shoot, and edit.
“I saw the ad through their social media handle. Everything took me 24 hours to prepare, shoot, and edit,” Ofem said.
Her video was viewed over 40,000 times on Facebook and as of press time, had garnered nearly 7,000 reactions, over 5,500 comments and was shared over 1,700 times.
The Wait
After sharing the video, Miss Ofem said she experienced different emotions while anticipating the best response.
“It was a month filled with a roller coaster of emotions. It was never an easy ride; mentally, financially, and emotionally,” she said, adding that having seen the announcement, her joy knows no bounds as the vehicle will help her business.
“I am overwhelmed. My happiness is out of this world, knowing how it is going to be of help to me,” she added.
