The family of late Chief Joseph Asido and Sophia Effiong Effah of Adiabo Akani Obio in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State has commenced the funeral arrangements for the Late Madam Theresa Asa Effah.
The ceremony marks the beginning of Madam Theresa Asa’s eternal journey who was popularly called Mma Theresa.
She was called yonder after a brief illness on February 12, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1963, in Lagos, Nigeria to the Late Chief Joseph Asido and Sophia Effiong Effah of Adiabo Akani-Obio in Odukpani LGA.
CrossRiverWatch learned that the obsequies commenced with the opening of mourning house conducted at her compound – 7, Ika-Ika Street, off Mbukpa, Calabar South, Local Government.
A condolence register has been opened for family, loved ones, friends, and associates to pen her their final notes.
Career
The Late Mrs. Theresa was a teacher who served her fatherland for 35 years. She began her teaching career upon completion of her teacher training in 1986. Between 1987 and 1990, she taught at Housing Estate Primary School, Calabar.
Thereafter she was transferred to Idang Primary School, Calabar in 1991 where she taught for 6 years. In April 1997, she was then moved to St. Mary’s Primary School, where she taught for 4 years before moving on to Brotherhood Primary School in September 2001.
She taught at Brotherhood for 4 years and in November 2005, she was then promoted to the Cross River State Secondary Education Board.
She also taught at Government Secondary School Idang for 6 years and was then transferred to Government Secondary School Pinn Margaret Calabar in January 2012, where she served for 10 years till she retired in August 2022.
She’s survived by two children – Sophia Eme Ekanem Umoh and Richmond Ekanem Umoh; five sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, and relatives.
