Cross River Government To Clear Abandoned Vehicles On Roads After Deadline

The Cross River State Ministry Of Transportation has urged road users to evacuate abandoned vehicles from public roads. 

The streets and major highways in the State have witnessed abandoned or scrap vehicles.

In a press release issued by the Special Assistant the commissioner for transportation, Agba J.D, the ministry of transportation gave two weeks ultimatum to those who abandoned their vehicles or risk the government evacuating them sanctions.

Agba said the movement is to clear the roads and maintain orderliness in the State capital.

The release reads: “In a proactive move to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the state capital, the Cross River Ministry of Transportation is initiating a campaign to clear abandoned vehicles from public roads.

“Owners of any class of vehicles abandoned within the state capital are hereby notified of a two-week grace period to evacuate these vehicles, which are currently defacing our beloved city.

“Effective immediately, owners of abandoned vehicles are urged to take advantage of this grace period to remove their vehicles from public roads.

“This initiative aligns with our commitment to maintaining clean and orderly public spaces for the benefit of all residents and visitors.

“Following the expiration of the two-week grace period, any abandoned vehicles still found on public roads will be subject to impoundment by the relevant authorities.

 “This enforcement measure is necessary to ensure compliance with city ordinances and to uphold the visual integrity of our state capital.

“Together, let us work towards a cleaner, safer, and more aesthetically pleasing Cross River state capital.”
