Government Reiterates Ban On Motorcycles, Tricycles Within Major Areas In Calabar

Cross River State Government has reiterated the ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles within the Calabar metropolis.

The ban was reemphasized in a public service announcement by the State Security Adviser, Major General O. U Obono (Rtd), stating that the gesture is an effort to sustain the peace currently enjoyed in the state and to ensure maximum security of lives and properties.

He enjoins operators to strictly obey Government directives by avoiding restricted routes and limiting themselves to designated areas.

“For the avoidance of doubt, commercial motorcycles and tricycles are not expected on the following routes: Murtala Mohammed Highway, Marian Road, IBB Way, Eta Agbor Road, Atimbo, Diamond, Mary Slessor, 8 Miles up to Tinapa Junction, Marian Hill, Moore – Road, Barracks Road, MCC Road, Akai Efa, Parliamentary Road up to extension, Ikot Ishie / Ikot Ansa and Federal and State Housing Estates.”

The Major General warned that tricycles or motorcycles seen violating the directive will be apprehended and offenders made to face the full wrath of the law.
